Welcome to Sussex Downs branch of the National Childbirth Trust, a charity offering information and support in pregnancy, childbirth and the early years of parenthood.
Our branch is located in West Sussex stretching from Petworth in the West across to Henfield in the East including the villages of Loxwood, Wisborough Green, Pulborough, Storrington, West Chiltington, Thakeham, Ashington, Steyning, Upper Beeding and Henfield.
Our branch is predominantly rural. As such, it's not surprising that parents often find the information and support we provide to be a lifeline. The arrival of a new baby is often an exciting time but it can also present a whole series of new challenges. In addition to our information and support services, meeting other parents and children locally can be a further means of support and opens up a host of opportunities to meet new friends.
Our branch produces a Welcome Pack for new members joining with lots of information about services in your local area. We also produce a quarterly newsletter distributed to our members and available through GP surgeries, health visitors and hospitals locally. We arrange lots of events - daytime and evening. It's worth pointing out that as a charity, you do not have to be a member to access any of our support services or attend social events. Membership is important though as it helps to fund ongoing support and training for other parents and enables us to continue working alongside local health professionals.
